How does the Ausbildung pathway work?
Germany’s dual vocational system combines paid, supervised work in a company with classroom learning at a vocational school (Berufsschule). You gain practical experience, a recognised qualification, and a clear route into the German labour market.
Paid training contract
Apprentices receive a monthly training allowance. A typical range is about €950–€1,300 gross per month, depending on the occupation, employer and collective agreement. Confirm the exact amount in your contract and budget for living costs.
High-demand occupations
Explore opportunities in nursing and healthcare, electrical engineering, plumbing and HVAC, hospitality, and catering—all areas where employers regularly seek trained talent.
A route into employment
After qualification, many graduates continue with their employer or use their experience to find skilled work. Your employment contract, leave entitlement and residence options depend on German law and your individual situation.
